The Blue Peacocks or Indian Peacocks, that has scientific namePavo cristatusis one of three species of Peacocks. The has a beautiful shiny dark blue color around its body. The is big in size, its body can be 230 cm length with the its long tail that has a beautiful metallic green color. Above their heads is a blue crested that like a fan. Female birds are smaller than males. Its feathers are not glossy, greenish brown with black stripes and without a long beautiful tail like the males. And the young birds are like the females. The biggest populated blue peacock is open forest with the savanna in India, Nepal,  Pakistan, Srilanka, Bhutan.

The food of peacocks

Just before a long time ago this species also found in Bangladesh, but now probably extinct there.  The male peacock is polygamous species, has more than one couples. In the mating season, the male bird show off his tail feathers in front of female birds. The feathers open wide like a fan with the circle like blue eyes in all over his tail. Bird females usually incubate three to six eggs. Blue Peacocks food consisted of various grains, top grass and leaf, various of insect and also various kinds of small animals like worms, spiders, and little lizards. The Blue Peacock is national . This spesies also plays an important role in the mythology of Buddhist, Hinduist and other cultures. The Blue Peacock has been evaluate as a low risk bird in IUCN Red List.

They like to live in forest with so much water in it. So we could find them more easily near water. Because they have big body so they can’t fly like other birds. But its charm is defeat other birds with the size like them. If you want to see them in beautiful position, so you should see the male peacocks in the mating season. Because at this time the male peacocks act beautifully to charm the females. In India, this bird is a symbol of Joy, grace, beauty and love. Because of their beautiful color people often use them as a Photo Model. We could see them in Photo Gallery. But because its existing is become extinct, we are all should help for their survival.
